My eighth annual sketchbook,
Wanderings, is now available!
The new collection debuted at NYCC this past weekend (you know what, that show is a great and probably deserves a post all to itself) and I'm pleased to report it was well received.
I do one new series of personal work each year.
End of the year, first of the new year I settle on a theme and then create a new series of work on that theme. It's usually something like 5 - 10 main new pieces. After planning and developing the new work I take all of the sketches, studies, and prep material and collect them in a book.
Once that's finished I set the sketchbook aside and go back and make paintings and prints. When I'm done, I've now got new originals, new prints, and a brand new sketchbook.
All of it amounts to a yearly portfolio refresh and goes towards promoting the work I want to be doing.
I like to arrange "chapters" within each of my yearly sketchbooks and this new series features,
The Castle
The Forest
The Bear
The Snake
The Bird
